Paul Slater will be leading a ride at Cannock Chase on the 24th of October. If you wish to come, please let Paul or the club know by Thursday the 22nd. We shall be meeting at the Woodford Way car park at 8am.
The Tuesday ride on the 20th will be the last until spring (Thursday rides will be continuing through the winter).
Many thanks to Michael, Paula, Tony , Howard, Suzanna and Euan who spent the whole day with Stuart and Dot at Blenheim delivering the Go-Ride program. We had 227 boys and girls participate at least once (some came back a few times so we estimate there were 700+ that went over the course) Thanks again for giving up your free time.
Well done to Suzanna who came 2nd in the under 12 girls cyclocross riding for Witney MTB and to William Macke who came 3rd in the under 16 boys ridng for Palmer park. Congratulations to both.
On Sunday 18th we’ll be running a family ride to Swinley Forest, leaving Henry Box school at 08.30am. The club calendar should be updated shortly with the new information…
Many congratulations to Howard Clarke who not only took first place in the under 14s Witney MTB Championships but also in the summit MTB Youth festival. William Macke took first place in the Witney MTB under 16s and was third in the summit MTB festival. Well done to you both.
Suzanna was the lucky winner of the Python BMX in the draw which took place at the festival. Witney MTB have been really lucky in these draws as Euan won the Mountain Bike in the draw that took place at the end of the summer series.
Well done to all who raced on Sunday and we look forward to the 17th of October for more fun and games. Thank you to Tony and Paula who co-ordinated this on behalf of Witney MTB.
In addition to this, a big thank you to Michael who gave up every evening last week and two the week before to visit every pack within the Buttercross scouting group to deliver biking skills in preparation for the ride which took part on Sunday and also to Paula who went along and helped on some of the evenings. Michael and Stuart set off with 39 riders to do 15 miles with Paul Stokes kindly bringing back the ones who only wanted to do 10. In excess of £300 was raised for this youth group. Thank you and well done to all involved.
4th of October sees the second Bike Blenheim– a festival of cycling. Entries for the cyclocross and brompton races are now closed (you can still turn up to spectate), but in addition the club will be there running Go-Ride sessions, Oxford cycle workshop will be attending along with some of the Uk top bike polo teams, MAD team will be doing amazing stunts on their bikes plus there’s the fab family ride around the palace grounds – which are off-limits to bikes for most of the year so don’t miss the opportunity!
